Meet the future of friendship.
Sony Pictures has released the official trailer for Klara and the Sun, an upcoming science fiction drama directed by Academy Award winner Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit). Based on the bestselling novel by Nobel Prize-winning author Kazuo Ishiguro, the film stars Jenna Ortega as an artificial companion whose extraordinary devotion could help bring hope to a family struggling with grief.
Set in a future where artificial companions are designed to provide friendship, Klara longs to find a home where she can make a difference. Her life changes when she meets Josie, played by Mia Tharia, a troubled young girl dealing with a complicated family life and the effects of a devastating loss.
The two quickly form a close bond. Through Klara’s innocent curiosity, unwavering loyalty, and unique perspective on the world, she begins to bring light into Josie’s life and help heal the family. But as their connection deepens, the story raises questions about the nature of friendship, the meaning of being human, and whether artificial intelligence can offer the kind of emotional connection people need most.
