What happens when you invite your closest friends to your beautiful new country estate, only to have a massive storm trap everyone inside?
That is the setup for The Storm, a Swedish comedy directed and written by Josephine Bornebusch, coming to Netflix this October.
A Birthday Party Trapped by the Storm
Filip is about to turn 45, and he has decided to celebrate by inviting his closest friends to the lavish farm estate he shares with his wife in northern Sweden.
There is just one problem: a powerful storm is heading their way.
The Storm
- Director: Josephine Bornebusch
- Starring: Gustaf Skarsgård, Aliette Opheim, Filip Berg, Josephine Bornebusch, Jonas Karlsson, Johan Rheborg, Henrik Dorsin, Christopher Wagelin
- Genre: Comedy
Once the weather turns dangerous and the group realizes they aren’t going anywhere, the friendly dinner gathering starts to unravel. The polished versions of themselves that everyone brought to the party begin to disappear, replaced by arguments, panic and some very uncomfortable truths.
As the storm closes in, the estate seems to become smaller and smaller. Secrets begin coming to the surface, relationships are tested and unexpected feelings start developing between the guests.
What was supposed to be a celebration quickly becomes an intimate pressure cooker where nobody can hide behind their carefully maintained public image.
